Layered Cake - Tiny Treaters Quilt

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #LayeredCakeQuilt #ABitofScrapStuffPattern #Quilt #RileyBlakeDesigns #HalloweenQuilt

Trick or Treat to the cutest Tiny Treaters! Tiny Treaters is the newest fabric collection designed by Jill Howarth for Riley Blake Designs - available HERE. This collection is full of adorable prints in fun colors plus a few prints glow in the dark - so fun!!

Originally,  I was going to make my Park Quilt with the Tiny Treaters Collection, but when the fabric arrived - I changed to Layered Cake Quilt! I just love all the prints together...no background fabric required!

It was easy to make an adjustment to my Layered Cake Quilt Pattern by simply substituting the Border Print Row with Row 2.  I'll chat more about making the Layered Cake Quilt without the Border Print Row.

I really love all the prints mixed together! Plus the addition of pink and teal is fabulous!!! Of course the striped fabric was perfect for the binding.

I machine quilt all of my quilts freehand on my Janome M7 (love this machine). The random meander is my favorite free motion quilting pattern - it's so relaxing to quilt and crinkles so nicely when washed. Seriously - look how cute these prints are!  Are you ready for Halloween quilting yet?!?!?

I used yardage to make my Layered Cake - Tiny Treaters Quilt so I had a  bit left over for a pieced backing. Using your left over fabrics is a great way to help manage your fabric stash plus it looks fabulous!

Layered Cake Quilt - Milk & Honey

Hi Quilty Friends! Today I'm sharing my Layered Cake Quilt (Shine Bright Edition) with the newest Riley Blake Designs Collection: Milk & Honey designed by Elea Lutz. I absolutely love the Milk & Honey collection. The beautiful pastel colors remind me of spring and are so calming. I love the gorgeous florals and tiny little animals plus there is a panel print -hooray!

I love the cute panel print that accompanies the Milk & Honey Collection and it was perfect for my Layered Cake Quilt - Shine Bright Edition Pattern (note I had to change a few cutting instructions so be sure to read below). The gold is metallic too - I love how Riley Blake is using so many metallic colors in their newest collections!

Layered Cake Quilt - Shine Bright Edition

Hi Quilty Friends! I'm excited to finally share my Layered Cake Quilt - Shine Bright edition! This quilt has been busy traveling with Clothworks as it was at Spring Quilt Market and then a quilt shop sample, but now it's back home and my unicorn loving daughter is soooo happy!

You might notice this quilt already has the cuddle-wrinkle look ... as I needed to wash and dry the quilt prior to quilt photos due to some spilled milk when it arrived home.  It is loved all ready!

The Layered Cake Quilt pattern is one of my favorites to sew as it uses all (42) 10" squares and has no matching seams - yay!!!  When I saw the cute panels included in the Shine Bright Collection - I updated the original Layered Cake Pattern with a pieced center insert.

Woodland Wander Layered Cake Quilt

Hello! After I finished my Woodland Wander Chain of Stars Quilt, I just had to sew another quilt with Woodland Wander Fabric by Clothworks - it's seriously the cutest fabric of woodland critters! The Woodland Wander Collection includes this adorable panel - so it's perfect for my Layered Cake Pattern (on sale for $5).

I love sewing my Layered Cake Quilt Pattern - it's quick and shows off the gorgeous fabric prints! Since the blocks are off set - there are no seams to match! Plus it also uses all (42) 10" squares.

Supplies:
Layered Cake Quilt Pattern (sale $5)
(42) 10" Squares - I used Woodland Wander by Clothworks
(1) Woodland Wander Panel
0.5 yard for sashing of panel
0.625 yard for binding
3.5 yards of backing (4 yards of backing if you want animals upright)
Hobbs 80/20 Batting
Aurifil Thread - White

Let's Get Cutting:

1. Follow Layered Cake Quilt Pattern for cutting (42) 10" squares.

Hearthside Holiday Layered Cake Quilt

I just fell in love with Deb Strain's Hearthside Holiday fabric! The colors and prints (deer, snowflakes, plaid, and text) are perfect for Christmas! You may have noticed that Christmas fabrics are my favorite and I love sewing with them! Plus the Layered Cake Quilt Pattern really shows off the gorgeous prints!

I used my Layered Cake Quilt pattern (on sale here for $5) and it was perfect! My Hearthside Holiday Quilt finishes at 54.5" x 74.5" - just slightly longer as I wanted more of the plaid on the panel to show.

I did need to adjust the panel part of the pattern a bit- but it works! One Hearthside Holiday panel comes with (2) rows of 4 blocks. Cut out (1) row 4 blocks (11.5" x WOF)  and then (1) extra block from the second row- allow extra plaid for pattern matching.  Can you tell the far deer on the right is the block I added??? Yay for pattern matching! You will have 3 blocks left over from the panel for a table runner or pillows!

Supplies:

I'm loving the Layered Cake Quilt Pattern as it such a fun and quick pattern to sew! Plus you will use every 10" square...yay for no wasted fabric! Don't let that middle panel scare you- it is easy to change it up! You could also use 1&2/3 yard of your favorite print for the panel piece and use the left over for the binding!  Click here to see Layered Cake Quilt with Seaside Fabric.

So grab the Layered Cake Quilt Pattern and Hearthside Layer Cake plus Panel (or favorite fabric) and you can sew this quilt up in plenty of time before Christmas!

Layered Cake Quilt (NEW PATTERN) with Seaside Fabric

I ordered the cutest Seaside Layer Cake and border print by Tasha Noel...it's adorable fabric!  I wanted to design and sew a quilt that was beginner friendly and showed off the adorable prints! Plus 10"squares are my favorite pre-cut!!! So I designed Layered Cake Quilt (available here)!

Just look at the lovely prints....

I finished my Layered Cake quilt just in time before our trip to the Ocean Seaside! It was the perfect spot to take quilt photos...except the wind ;). So here is a peek of the backing!

Plus a closer look because I had to splurge on the matching print for the backing. It is too perfect!

The Layered Cake Quilt is a fun pattern to sew that just needs (1) Layer Cake - all 42 squares plus a border print or your favorite print in yardage. The Layered Cake Quilt finishes at 54.5" x 72.5"....perfect for a large lap size! The layered cake blocks are staggered - so NO seams to match!!!

Supplies-

I just love this quilt! It reminds us of our beach vacation!!!
