Layer Cake Pop Quilt with Fat Quarter Shop - Mickey Mouse and Friends Fabric

I'm so excited to share my Layer Cake Pop Quilt with Fat Quarter Shop! I love this fun and free quilt pattern!!! The quilt pattern just takes 1 jelly roll (background fabric) and 1 layer cake (10" squares).  I really wanted to use the Mickey Mouse and Friends fabric collection by Camelot Cotton Fabrics so I used yardage...and it turned out fantastic! My 2 year old has claimed this one...she LOVES Minnie and Mickey!

I LOVE the Disney fabrics by Camelot Fabrics! They are quilt shop quality prints and the fabric is fantastic (nothing like the huge chain store stuff). You can find the fabrics here at Fat Quarter Shop.  This fabric was perfect for the Layer Cake Pop Quilt pattern as I was able to fussy cut all the center squares...yay!

All my squares are cut and I'm ready to start sewing!

Isn't this fabric perfect for this fabulous pattern! Each block is 12.5" unfinished.

The quilt comes together quickly and finishes 48.5" x 60.5" as written. Since I had extra yardage and wanted my quilt a bit bigger, I added 6" borders to all sides. I love how this shows the fabric off even more!

Now I have to talk about the binding. I think I have found the most perfect binding EVER... Moda Small Dottie in Jet Black. I'm quite sure I need a bolt ;)

Time to make your own Layer Cake Pop Quilt (links below)

Mickey Mouse and Friends Fabric. I used 1 yard of red and 0.75 yard of the other 3 fabrics as I wanted extra for fussy cutting.

Thank you to Fat Quarter Shop for having me be part of the Layer Cake Pop Quilt Quilt Along! I love this pattern and will definitely be sewing another one or two or three as I like to collect layer cakes :)

Be sure to follow me here and Instagram @mellierc (where I share my sneaks and more of my sewing adventures).

Have a great day!

Love at "Furrst" Sight Bundle and Pillow with Fort Worth Fabric Studio

This week's Friday Bundle Batch at Fort Worth Fabric Studio is PURRFECT! The Love at Furrst Sight bundle features the Cool Cats collection printed on Organic Cotton!!! I just love how the Cool Cats fabrics (pink or cream) are printed with adorable kitties that are perfect for fussy cutting! Plus pink cat paw prints...yes! Pink and Gray is one of my favorite color combinations!

Check out the PURRFECT bundle below and grab one here!

I knew I needed a project that the Cool Cats fabric in pink could be front and center...so I made a 16"x16" pillow with my fat quarter bundle! I made one pink pillow, but I'm quite sure you have enough to make another pillow using the Cool Cats fabric in cream with the matching text print and platinum gray fabrics.

Once again, I used a pattern from the new Sherri Falls book, Sew This and That- available at Fort Worth Fabric Studio too. I really love all the patterns in this book...plus they are so fun to sew!!! Keep on reading and I will share a few tips in making your Love at Furrst Sight pillow!

Supplies:
3. Scrap batting - if quilting pillow front
4. Zipper - optional for zippered pillow back
6. Pillow insert 16"

Let's get sewing now!
Grab your book and turn to page 16. Pattern- Bird Watching Pillow.

Cutting
1. Follow cutting directions as provided in book EXCEPT for center fabric cut fabric to 8.5" x 8.5" as we are not embroidering the pillow, but using the cute Cool Cats fabric for the center.

Sewing
1. Follow directions provided in pattern

Finishing up Pillow
1. Quilt pillow front if desired
2. Create pillow backing with preferred method.  For my backing I chose 2 of my favorite prints and used a zipper enclosure as I like to wash my pillow covers since my 3 kiddos are a bit messy at times.

Time to Enjoy your new Cool Cats Pillow!

Basket of Sunshine Fat Quarter Bundle and Pillow

I'm so excited to share this 16" pillow I made using the Basket of Sunshine Fat Quarter bundle from Fort Worth Fabric Studio and Sew This and That book. I just loved sewing this project! This cheery Friday Batch fat quarter bundle is just perfect for this project. The yellow fabrics are great to sew with during this dreary winter weather....it will make you smile and feel happy!

I just love the bright yellow fabrics and the coordinating browns are the perfect neutral! I did add some Olive's Flower Market Parisian Dots Taupe by Moda as my background...which I love...I need a bolt of this :).

Jodie at Fort Worth Fabric just got this book and I LOVE every single pattern!!! I used the pattern for  the cover table runner to make this pillow. I love how you can use a pattern for multiple projects! Keep reading and I will share how!

Supplies:

1. Sew This and That Book by Sherri Falls - I will be using this book for another Friday Bundle Batch later this month too.
3. Olive's Flower Market Parisian Dots Taupe by Moda - 0.25 yard (I would order extra as it is so fabulous and you will want to make a matching pillow... a pair of pillows is always a must ;) )
5. Scrap of batting (for quilting pillow top)
6. Zipper -optional for pillow backing

Let's start

1. Pattern: Spring Garden Table Runner on page 24
Since we are making just a pillow (one block instead of three)- adjust the cutting quantities. I also extended my outer squares to 4" and rectangles 2" x 4" so my pillow would be 16.5" unfinished (16" finished)
2. Sew block together with border (see below)

3. Layer pillow top, batting, backing (optional as it will be hidden inside pillow) and quilt (I stippled my pillow as I love to stipple!)
4. Make pillow backing with preferred method

You are done....unless you want to make a matching pillow!

I gifted this pillow to my Mother-in-law for Christmas as she loves yellow and it matches her living room perfectly!  Here she is....I think she likes it!
