Hello! I'm sew excited to share the August Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop! August's theme is "Sparkle & Shine" and is filled with delightful brand-new products! This box is definitely full of SHINE!

Let's chat more about my favorite aqua box of quilty goodies that I receive each month!

The Sew Sampler Box Membership is full, but don't worry - you can sign up for the waitlist AND most of the items in this month's box are available at Fat Quarter Shop (links above).

The Modern Classic fabrics by Violet Craft included in the July Sew Sampler are absolutely awesome and perfect for bright summer sewing (or if you are a bit behind on your Sew Sampler projects - this happy bundle will SHINE up your fall/winter!) I'm excited to sew the EXCLUSIVE Diamond Divide Quilt pattern plus I love that FQS has the foundation paper piecing papers available as I don't have a large format printer at home.

The BRAND NEW Oh Sew clean Brush & Cloth Set is fabulous! I always clean my machine before I machine quilt and before starting a new project! Removing all the fuzz from the bobbin area will make your machine so much happier and stitch so nicely! Plus this set is aqua and white --- so fabulous!!!

This lime green Mini Stash 'n Store is so perfect! The lime green color is just so happy plus this small size is perfect to place right next to your sewing machine with favorite tools without them tipping over.

It was so fun to sew the Dig Deep block! Since this is a large block - you could make a second block and make it a table topper/runner - it would be perfect!

I'm using Lollipop Garden by Lella Boutique to sew my Goodness Grows Quilt - I just LOVE this fabric! It is just the sweetest!

Don't forget to sign up for the Sew Sampler Box wait list - each box is wonderful plus an awesome value! I can't wait for the September Sew Sampler Box!

Have a great day and happy sewing!

Layer Cake Links Quilt - Snow Day

Hi Quilty Friends! Today I'm sharing the newest FREE quilt pattern available at Fat Quarter Shop!  Layer Cake Links Quilt is part of the Fat Quarter Shop Short Cut Series - so it is a quick and fun quilt to make PLUS totally cute!

Fat Quarter Shop Quilting Fabric, Kits, Notions and Patterns

I made a few little changes to the original pattern by adding a double border because a bigger quilt is always better ;). I also used Moda Chambray yardage instead of a solid layer cake for the background because I LOVE Chambray!!! Just look how lovely it matches with the Snow Day Collection. Plus I'm totally in love with the Snow Day Snow Globes for the backing - love!

Let's make a Layer Cake Links Quilt  -
67.5" x 73.5" (with borders)

The Snow Day fabric collection is adorable! The prints are absolutely awesome! I love the snowmen, snow globes, sweaters, snowflakes - love it all! It's a fabulous winter collection!

Supplies -

Sewing time -

Follow Layer Cake Links pattern instructions to complete quilt top. If you want to add optional borders. Cut (8) 2.25" x WOF strips of inner border fabric (Mine is Moda Chambray Grey #12051-12 ). Piece together and attach to quilt edges.  Cut (8) 4" x WOF strips of outer border fabric (Mine is Snow Day Night Sky Lil Snowman ). Piece together and attach to inner border.

I had SNOW much fun making my Layer Cake Links Quilt! I'm not ready for the snow, but I do want to start using this quilt! You will want to get this Snow Day fabric before it melts away!

Fat Quarter Shop has created an exclusive Layer Cake Links Quilt Kit featuring Finnegan by Brenda Riddle - it's gorgeous! You can purchase the kit at Fat Quarter Shop and start cutting and sewing right when your kit arrives!

I can't wait to see your Layer Cake Links Quilt! Will you choose Snow Day or the Fat Quarter Shop Kit with Finnegan or a different collection?

Have a great day and happy quilting!

Reverse Applique Spider Pillows with AccuQuilt

Hi AccuQuilt friends! I'm so excited to share a tutorial today on the AccuQuilt Blog with the new AccuQuilt GO! Halloween Medley die

The spider die included in the Halloween Medley die is perfect for my reverse appliqué Halloween pillows- just the right amount of spooky!

Plus this easy tutorial will work for any AccuQuilt GO! die shape too!

The 6" x 12" GO! Halloween Medley die contains: Spider, Ghost, and Hat

Of course the GO! Halloween Medley die is awesome, AccuQuilt-quality so your spider legs (plus ghost and hat) will cut perfectly! The die has two-toned foam so it's super easy to know where to place your fabric for accurate cuts! Let's gather up our supplies and start cutting!

Supplies:

Tutorial for (2) Spooky Spider Pillows 16" x 16"

The FULL TUTORIAL is available at the AccuQuilt blog - here!

I will walk you step by step so you can make BOTH Spider Pillows! One is with reverse appliqué and the other one uses the bonus spiders for a traditional appliqué - yay for no wasted fabric!

Here's a little sneak of the zippered backing of my pillows.

I prefer to use a zipper-style as I feel it gives a polished look and it makes it easy to remove the pillow cover for washing- remember I have 3 kiddos who don't understand "decoration only" pillows ;).

If you looks closely at the Riley Blake Designs: Costume Makers Ball Webs Cream fabric - you can see needles of thread in the webs! I just love this fabric!

I purchase my zippers at Amazon and trim to size needed to save money - yay!

For a fun detail - I hand embroidered a web string with white/blanc DMC floss so it would like the spiders were hanging down from the pillow top! Extra spooky!

Don't forget to read the FULL TUTORIAL for your Spooky Spider Pillows on the AccuQuilt Blog (here) so you can make these quick and fun pillows for Halloween! I love making holiday pillows for my family room! Plus the tutorial will work for any AccuQuilt GO! die too!

Have a great day and happy quilting!

Mount Rainier National Park Quilt with Riley Blake Designs

Have you seen the new National Parks Collection from Riley Blake Designs? It's absolutely stunning! I love the vintage design of the National Park "poster" Panels - plus the coordinating fabrics are a perfect match!

I had to make a Mount Rainier Quilt as my husband and I used to hike and camp at Mount Rainier during college! Mount Rainier National Park is beautiful- even if I'm not much of a camping girl ;).

Riley Blake Designs has so many awesome and FREE patterns available for their fabric collections. I decided to combine two of their FREE patterns to make my quilt! I used the National Parks Panel Pattern (here) and the Wiggles Panel Pattern (here).

Here's how I made mine!

Mount Rainier National Park Quilt 51" x 59"

Supplies:

Cutting:
1. Panel: 34" x 41" - you may choose to cut your panel a different size depending on how large you want the gray/white border.
2. Inner border (5) 3.5" x WOF strips
3. Outer border (4) 6.5" x WOF and cut (5) fat quarters to make 6" pieced blocks as shown in Riley Blake Wiggles Pattern.  I love how the pieced blocks add a fun design to the border and quilt!

When I saw this AWESOME National Parks Poster Black fabric - I had to use it for the backing so a double sided quilt was a must!

It was super easy to make my quilt double sided as I used the full width of fabric of the National Parks Poster Black and then used National Parks Badges Black for the top and bottom to make the backing the correct size. I LOVE it!

I loved sewing my Mount Rainier National Park Quilt - it was fun and quick plus reminds of me college and camping with my husband!

Riley Blake Designs has released many National Parks Panels with more coming soon! A Yellowstone Quilt is next on my list! Do you have a favorite National Park???

Have a great day and happy quilting!
