I finished stitching Halloween Quaker from the Halloween Memories book ... I love it! This is the first quaker style pattern that I have finished and I enjoyed each stitch!
Halloween Quaker is a monochromatic stitch so it was a perfect piece for choosing a variegated thread - Classic Colorworks: Argyle Socks (a lovely blend of gray to purple).
Halloween Memories is fabulous book by Susan Ache and published by It's Sew Emma. Included are 9 cross stitch patterns PLUS 6 quilt patterns that can be used for any holiday by choosing different fabric. Each of the cross stitch designs are smaller designs so you still have time to finish at least one before Halloween!
Chain of Stars is a fabulous quilt for beginners as the stars are No Point Matching Stars, which means the points float in the background fabric so you don't have to match up the points when sewing blocks together - it's so much easier and your stars always have points!
Chain of Stars Quilt is a block based quilt pattern so adjusting your quilt size is easy. One 10" square (plus background) makes 1 Chain of Stars Block. As I wanted to use the lighter prints in Hey Bootiful, I substituted 5 star background fabric withDapple Dot Riley Gray and the white stars really shine now!
As I wanted my Chain of Stars Quilt a bit bigger, I added a border! Adding a border is a very quick and easy way to enlarge your quilt. Plus it is fun to choose your favorite print (or prints) to have a larger impact on your quilt!
OPTIONAL: Outer Border Instructions
The original Chain of Stars Quilt doesn't have a border, but adding an outer border is super easy!
Cut (5) 4" x Length of Fabric (27"). This will have your ghosts floating upright for side borders.
Sew strips together to form one very long narrow strip
Measure quilt length. Example Quilt Length of 63.5"*. Cut (2) outer border strips 4" x 63.5"*. Sew (1) outer border strip to right side of quilt and (1) outer border strip to left side of quilt.
Cut (4) 4" x Width of Fabric (40"). This will have your ghosts floating upright for top/bottom borders.
Sew strips together to form one very long narrow strip
Measure quilt width. Example Quilt Width of 61.5"*. Cut (2) outer border strips 4" x 61"*. Sew (1) outer border stripe to top of quilt and (1) outer border strip to bottom of quilt.
* Cut your border strips to the measured length and width of your quilt.
Welcome back to week 4 of the Boo Crew Mystery Quilt with Fat Quarter Shop! This week we are completing the Boo Crew Quilt - yay!!! This sweet and spooky quilt will be used this fall!
I wanted my Boo Crew Mystery Quilt a bit larger so I added an outer border, which was super easy. I simply cut (4) 4" x WOF strips to attach to quilt center (purple border as shown in pattern). My finished quilt with added border is : 41"x 43"
Boo Crew Mystery Quilt (with outer border 41" x 43")
Yes - I made sure all of the ghosts were the correct direction for the ghost ... it was definitely worth the extra time! This ghost is sooooo spooky cute!
Candle Flame: I chose to use one fabric print for the candle flame, which I love! If you want this same variation: use the same fabric for H and J and fabric I will not be needed.
I will be back next Tuesday to share the next mystery release!
