My Summer Tulip Tote with Sirena Fabrics

I am loving my new Summer Tote!!! I purchased the Tulip Tote pattern by Stubbornly Crafty a bit ago and was just trying to decided on fabrics when I saw Sirena Fabrics by Jessica Swift and knew it would be perfect!

I love the large floral print...plus there is purple!!! It is perfect for the focal fabric and the Sea Kelp adds a modern touch mixed with Art Gallery Denim!

Fabric:
I purchased mine at Fat Quarter Shop (affiliate links)
3. Art Gallery Denim - Wicked Sky

I took my new tote to work today and saw these lovely flowers outside my building....so I had to snap a few photos. I only got a few weird looks from other employees ;).

I really love the Tulip style top of the bag. It is so unique and the first I have seen! Don't worry...it wasn't too tricky either!

I chose to quilt each section of my tote as I love the way it looks! I always forget how long it takes to straight line quilt a project. I think that took me the longest!

Below is the Front/Back of my tote...they look very very very similar! Do you have a favorite side? I can't decide!

Thank you so much for reading! Have a great day sewing!

Clementine Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop and Moda Fabrics

I'm so very excited to share my finished Clementine Quilt!!! I had sew much fun sewing along! I love that Fat Quarter Shop and Moda Fabrics have partnered together to match donations up $20,000 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for this Quilt Along!

You may notice that my finished quilt looks different from the original pattern. I decided to make (9) 12" finished blocks. Next I used the pattern directions to set the blocks on point to make them 20" finished. I LOVE the secondary pattern that was created this way!

I love the all the Bonnie & Camille Aqua fabrics that I used for my quilt. They are sooooo lovely....even if it was challenging to photograph the colors in the bright sun :)

My fabrics

I choose my favorite Bonnie & Camille Aqua Fabrics to make my Clementine Quilt.

I've been wanting to expand my free motion quilting skills- so I quilted each block differently. It took forever and so much thread- but I LOVE it! I have decided swirls are awesome!

Plus Gingham binding....gives me heart eyes!

I saved the trimmings from the setting the 12" block squares on point and made half-square triangles. Mixing these half square triangles and extra fabric pieces left over from my quilt gave me a scrappy backing....it's a reversible quilt now!

It's not too late to join in...you can still sew your quilt and donate to St.Jude Children's Hospital.

How it works:

On the 25th of January - July 2018, Fat Quarter Shop will release a Clementine pattern with matching video. The Clementine patterns are FREE to download at Fat Quarter Shop. It is suggested that you make a donation of $5 to the Fat Quarter Shop St. Jude campaign for each time you download the pattern.

Fat Quarter Shop has an amazing kit available featuring Mama's Cottage by April Rosenthal. It is gorgeous! Available here.

Unicorn Dreams Pillow

Do you every sew a project and just LOVE it??? That is how I feel about this cute Unicorn Dreams Pillow! My little 4 year old LOVES it too and has claimed it as her own!

It was so fun to search my fabric scraps for this appliqué project! It is a fabulous project for that!!! I chose mostly pink/purple floral fabrics - my little daughter's favorites (mine too).

I was so glad that I still have some V&Co Pink/White Striped fabric left as it is from a few years ago. It is the perfect binding fabric! I love a good stripe fabric!

The backing fabric is this cute unicorn fabric I found at JoAnn's!

I haven't done embroidery is FOREVER- but luckily I remembered so I could sew the mouth! I used all six strands of floss so it would show up a bit more.

I used Tied with a Ribbon's Pattern: Unicorn Dream - which contains the pattern for the Unicorn and Rainbow Pillows! It is a fabulous pattern and I recommend it!

Have a great day sewing!

I love sewing useful projects for my home...so I was sew happy when I opened my June Maxie Mail Box! This month we are learning to sew two large Hold It Bins! The Hold It Bins are perfect for holding fabric, notions, or household items too!

Maxie has included EVERYTHING you need in this month's Maxie Mail box to sew your Hold It Bins....including the gorgeous faux leather for your handles!

  • “Hold It Bin” Pattern- includes multiple sizes (80 pages total)
  • Art Gallery 100% Pima Cotton Fabrics to make a set of two co-ordinating Hold It Bins! Fabrics vary in each box, but are from either Bari J, Katarina Roccella, or Sharon Holland collections. My fabric is Sketchbook by Sharon Holland
  • Pellon Decor Bond stiff interfacing
  • 100% recycled felt interlining
  • Thread
  • Wonderclips (must-haves for this project!)
  • Faux leather for handles
Helpful hints/tips for sewing your Hold It Bins

2. Use the leather needle (from the May Cool Tool Box) when topstitching your faux leather handles.
3. Use the wonder clips included in your box (Maxie thought of everything) to hold your bin together when stitching the sides and topstitching the bin top.
4. Lengthen your stitch length with topstitching the bin and handle
5. I used my dual feed food (walking foot) when assembling my bins as it was perfect for the thick layers.

I will be using my bins in my sewing room as they make me happy....plus they look so perfect with fabric, thread, and scissors inside.
