Dazzle Quilt - Calico

Hi Quilty Friends! Today I’m sharing the Dazzle Quilt featuring the fabulous Calico Collection designed by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs. I absolutely looooooove the quilt!

Calico is full of sweet florals, cute chicks, cherries, and geometric prints in lovely colors plus low volume prints too! It's a fabulous follow-up collection to Lori's Calico Days Collection from a few years ago. I love that Lori re-introduces past popular prints in her new collections.

The Dazzle Quilt Pattern was perfect because the blocks are large so the lovely Calico prints shine. I used 32 different Calico prints .... love the scrappy, but coordinated look!

Supplies

Outer Border - Pattern Change

I wanted to fussy cut the Hexagon flowers from the Grandma's Calico Garden print, so my outer border strips are cut about 5.5" x WOF. I cut 0.5" away from the edges of the flowers. Be sure to measure your quilt center before cutting the length of your border strips. I just looooooooove the hexagon floral border... so much happiness! This slightly larger outer border will make your quilt a bit larger than the Dazzle Quilt pattern states.

Half-square triangles Tips!

Each Dazzle block contains 8 half-square triangle blocks. I think the half-square triangle is one of the most versatile block/shape and I love a perfect one!

*Tip 1 – Make the half-square triangle block a bit larger and trim to size. I love the Bloc-Loc half-square triangle ruler for this method.

OR

*Tip 2 – Use the desired size of AccuQuilt GO! half-square triangle die. THIS is my favorite method as it is so quick and no trimming needed!

Tip Top Quilt - Ciao Bella

Hi Quilty Friends! Today I’m sharing the Tip Top Quilt featuring the beautiful Ciao Bella fabric collection designed my Carina Gardner for Riley Blake Designs.

** Tip Top Quilt Pattern -Available at Payhip or Etsy **

Carina Gardner designed the Ciao Bella fabric collection as a modern twist on your European Grandma's linens and vintage soft goods. I absolutely loooooove the gorgeous floral prints!

The Tip Top Quilt is a perfect beginner quilt pattern that uses (1) 2.5" Rolie Polie of Ciao Bella plus (1) yard of sashing and optional border.

Tip Top Quilt: 64.5" x 64.5" (with border)

Supplies:

I love the Blush Ciao Bella Floral so I added an outer border by cutting my border strips 4.5". This is also an easy way to enlarge your quilt! Just choose your favorite fabric and add a border!

I absolutely love a striped binding! When there is a coordinating stripe in the collection or a matching 1/8" stripe Riley Blake Designs basics -my favorite! I will choose a striped fabric for the binding 95% of the time. The Riley Blake Churn Dash Binding Holder is fantastic for keeping my binding organized and not in a tangled knot on my floor ;).

Jacks Quilt - Fast & Fun Lap Quilts Book & GIVEAWAY

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff

Hi Quilty Friends! Today I'm excited to share the Jacks Quilt from the fabulous book: Fast & Fun Lap Quilts written by Melissa Corry

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff

I love how the blocks are like the classic Jacks Game .... does anyone remember it??? My sisters and I enjoyed playing it!

The Jacks Quilt is also the cover quilt for the Fast & Fun Lap Quilts Book too. As the cover quilt uses a light background, I thought it would be fun to use Moda Chambray Grey for the background with a Dwell Layer Cake

Guess what - there is a GIVEWAY on my Instagram @ABitofScrapStuff if you want to win a Dwell Layer Cake!!! Wahoo!!!!

Fast & Fun Lap Quilts Book - written by Melissa Corry

10" Squares are my favorite pre-cut as I receive at least one print from an entire collection at a more affordable price. The Fast & Fun Lap Quilts book is perfect for me and my collection of 10" Squares (Layer Cakes, Stackers). There are Nine Quilt Patterns included and each quilt is so different - I love that! Melissa did a fabulous job designing all the patterns!!!

Fast & Fun Lap Quilts Book is available at Amazon or Fat Quarter Shop or your favorite book store. I think you love this book!

Jacks Quilt   62.5" x 77.5"
A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff

The Jacks Quilt is a quite a large lap size quilt at 62.5" x 77.5". The larger size is perfect for taller people and/or for more than one person! When my kiddos were younger - they loved sharing quilts on the couch while watching movies.
PS  - Don't worry my quilt is square.... the ground is uneven, but I love love love the fall leaves!!!

Did you notice that binding fabric isn't included in the supply list? That is because you will use your 10" squares to create a fabulous scrappy binding! I LOVE it!!!!

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff

The Jacks Quilt uses (40) 10" Squares for the quilt top and binding ... so there is only  (2) 10" squares left over. I love a quilt pattern that uses almost a full 10" Layer Cake or 10" Stacker!  As you are using almost all of the 10" squares - be sure to choose a background fabric that will not blend too closely with your 10" squares. I thought the Moda Chambray Grey was perfect for the Dwell Collection as there are quite a few lighter prints in the collection.

Timber Quilt - Forgotten Memories

Forgotten Memories - Timber Quilt

Hi Quilty Friends! Today I'm sharing the Timber Quilt featuring the beautiful Forgotten Memories fabric collection designed my Minki Kim for Riley Blake Designs

Shop Fabric at Fat Quarter Shop
The color palette of the Forgotten Memories collection is absolutely gorgeous and so perfect for fall! I love how well the prints and colors coordinate so I wanted to create a quilt with no background fabric. My Timber Quilt Pattern was perfect for a new fall quilt.

The Timber Quilt pattern is a beginner friendly pattern that focuses on the prints from the Forgotten Memories collection as no background fabric is needed for this quilt! All you need is (42) 10" squares plus border fabric! Of course, you could always skip the border fabric and just use (1) 10" Stacker for a slightly smaller quilt!

Timber Quilt  uses all (42) 10" squares in a 10" Stacker. As the Timber Quilt is block based, you can easily adjust the size of your quilt by making more or less blocks. Each Timber block requires one 10" x 10" square.

I chose to add a scrappy outer border for my Timber Quilt and I LOVE it! This is a really easy pattern substitute as you just choose (4) 1/4 yard cuts instead of (1) yard cut! Plus this allows you to use 4 of your favorite prints instead of just 1!
