Hello! I'm sew excited to share the March Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop! I have been a Sew Sampler Member since the very beginning and can't believe year 4 is starting NEXT month!!! I have been loving the latest Sew Sampler Boxes and March is no exception! March's theme is Paris - French Market ... so fancy and fun! Plus Paris is totally on my travel wish list!

Let's start chatting about the Sew Sampler March Box -

  • Chantilly Jolly Bar by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics - (42) 5" x 10" rectangles of gorgeous spring fabric with berries and florals.
  • Sew Hot Iron Rest - This aqua iron rest is soooo adorable. Since I have an Oliso iron, I'm using mine as a hot pad for hot dishes/casseroles for dinner! It's just to cute not to use!
  • Tim Holtz 7" Titanium Snips - These are awesome! Plus look how cute they are for barn block photos!
  • Peel Spool Hugger - I love these spool huggers as they happily hold my thread together so no giant tangles! My 5 year old daughter also likes to use them rings ;)
  • Sprouts Quilt Pattern - This is an exclusive Sew Sampler pattern and soon cute! It's perfect for the Chantilly Jolly Bar included in your box!
  • Barn Block #12 and Finishing Patterns - I can't believe we are at the very end of the Barn Block Quilt! I'm still finishing up my blocks- but I love them!

The Sew Sampler Box Membership is full, but don't worry - you can sign up for the waitlist AND most of the items in this month's box are available at Fat Quarter Shop (links above).

Starlight Double Quilt with Shortcake Fabric

Happy Monday! I'm so excited to share my latest quilt pattern: Starlight Double - which is perfect for Heidi Staples' newest fabric collection: Shortcake with Riley Blake Designs! Just look at the gorgeous florals and adorable jam jars! The Shortcake fabric makes me so happy! I can't help but think of summer, picnics, and the 4th of July!

Starlight Double Quilt pattern is perfect for the Shortcake collection as the blocks are larger so the fabric really shines! It's just too adorable to cut up too tiny :)

I don't normally choose a border for my quilts, but the  Shortcake royal blue floral fabric really needed to become a border! Heidi also designed a perfect stripe print- that I loooove for quilt binding. PS- Machine binding is my absolute favorite!

Let's chat more about the Starlight Double Quilt Pattern!

Fabric Requirements

The Starlight Double Quilt can easily be made smaller or larger by adjusting the number of blocks! I've already make 2 pillows by sewing a single block! I love a versatile pattern!

Honeypot Celebration Table Runner - Maxie Mail Box February

I love the February Maxie Mail Box!!!! This one was one of my most favorite boxes!!! I just love the gorgeous Art Gallery Reverie Fusion fabric plus Maxie already pre-cut the fabric hexagons! Don't worry she included an acrylic template so you can more hexagons for future projects! My Honeypot Celebration Table Runner makes my dining room look like it's spring time! I smile each time I see it on my table -- happiness!

Be sure to watch Maxie's Member's video for helpful hints and full tutorial on sewing your Honeypot Celebration Table Runner! I've sewn y-seams before and wasn't too pleased with the results - BUT I followed Maxie's instructional videos and now my Y-seams are flat and perfect!
I always watch Maxie's Member video first before I start sewing. Then I re-watch the video again while I am sewing the project and pause it until I've reached the next step. I find Maxie's videos soooooo helpful!

Let's chat more about the February Maxie Mail Box-

What's included:
  • 36 pre-cut Hexagons in Art Gallery Fabrics’ Reverie Fusion line
  • Border fabric
  • Binding fabric
  • Maxie’s Honeypot Hexagon Acrylic Template
  • Gutermann 100% cotton Thread
  • Pattern
I think we need another look at the gorgeous fabric!
Let's start sewing!

First - watch Maxie's video unless you are already a Y-seam wizard ;).
Just take your time sewing the hexagons together. After the first row, I got into my Y-seam groove and it got a lot easier and my seams looked better and better!
I also used the Best Press Spray Starch Alternative from a previous Maxie Mail box and my seams got even flatter - yay! Just spray the Best Press directly onto the sewn hexagons and press with your hot iron. Your hexagons will be so flat and lovely!

Threadology Quilt Along - Block 3

Happy March 1st! It's time for Block Three - Shooting Squares for the Threadology Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop and Moda Fabrics! Over $13,000 in donations have already been raised for Make-A-Wish Central/South Texas....quilters are so generous!!!! I love this!!!! Have you seen the cute bonus projects Fat Quarter Shop released - Table Runner, Wall Hanging, and a Table Topper - here.

I'm so excited about this month's block - the Shooting Squares. These were super fun blocks to sew with just a few points to match. I'm loving all of the Threadology Blocks and especially the adorable fabric:  Little Snippets by Bonnie & Camille - which is available here!

Let's get sewing Block 3: Shooting Squares

This week we are making (1) 12.5" x 12.5" block and (4) 6.5" x 6.5" blocks - they are so adorable!

Tip 1: Take the time to cut your fabrics straight - especially #55184-11, 55187-12, and 55181-11. You will be so much happier with straight cuts that match the printed fabric pattern.

Tip 2: Use a Creative Grids 12.5" Square Ruler and Creative Grids 6.5" Square Ruler to trim your blocks. I love these rulers as they have a grippy side so they don't slip when cutting!
