A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #msqcshowandtell #msqcpartner

I'm excited to share the MSQC Clear Vinyl Tote I made. This tote is absolutely perfect for all of your adventures.  Plus I was able to use GLITTER vinyl which is amazing!!!

MSQC Fancy Vinyl: GLITTER - a must have!

I absolutely love this product! The quality is outstanding! I love that the vinyl was easy to sew PLUS  did NOT wrinkle at all when I was turning and maneuvering the bag while sewing. I'm definitely going to need a few more rolls. Of course,  glitter vinyl is always better than plain vinyl.

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #msqcshowandtell #msqcpartner

Creating a pieced bag bottom is easy and looks fabulous!

My pattern adjustments:

  • Cut (4) 6.5" x 9.5" rectangles of: Free Spirit Designer Solids by Tula Pink: Legendary
  • Cut (2) 6.5" x 9.5" rectangles of: Free Spirit Designer Solids by Tula Pink: Whimsy
  • Sew (1) 6.5" x 9.5" rectangle of Free Spirit Designer Solids by Tula Pink: Whimsy between (2) 6.5" x 9.5" rectangles of: Free Spirit Designer Solids by Tula Pink: Legendary. Make two exterior bag panels measuring 9.5" x 18.5" each.
  • Fuse (1) 9.5" x 18.5" rectangle of Pellon Fusible Fleece to wrong size of both exterior bag panels. I actually just fused my exterior bag panels to one 18.5" x 18.5" piece of Pellon Fusible Fleece as I will be trimming later.
  • Machine quilt cross hatch design [2.5" in width or desired size] with coordinating thread

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #msqcshowandtell #msqcpartner

  • Trim exterior panels to 9" x 18" panel per pattern instructions.

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #msqcshowandtell #msqcpartner

The pattern has the seams unfinished, but I love a finished seam and I LOVE this bag so I took the extra time to bind all the raw seams closed on the bag bottom. I'm so glad I did this. The seams were quite bulky as I bound the seams with double fold binding so my tip is to sew slowly.

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #msqcshowandtell #msqcpartner

I also sewed the binding for the bag top on LAST (after bag sides were sewn together). Attaching the binding last allowed me to fully enclose the bag top without two bulky side seam being exposed.  Just use lots of Clover Binding Clips and you will love the finished edge!

My MSQC Clear Vinyl Tote Bag is my "go to" bag and I love it! I'm going to need to make a second one as my daughter has tried to take mine :)

New Notions

I love trying all the new notions that are included in the monthly Sew Sampler Box.
  • The Sticky Finger Multi-tool is perfect for turning corners and creating points plus the silicone end can sweep away loose threads!
  • Famore 45mm Rotary Blades - I highly recommend changing your rotary blades often, it is so much easier to cut fabric accurately with a sharp blade.
  • The Green Sew Daisy is a fun little notion that snaps to the top and bottom of Aurifil thread so you can store your needles in the center of the spool...brilliant!
Bliss Quilt Along -  57.5" x 57.5"
Sew Sampler Mystery Quilt (April 2022 to March 2023)

Bliss Quilt Along is the monthly mystery Sew Sampler Quilt. Each month a new block pattern is included with your Sew Sampler box OR you can purchase the Bliss Quilt Pattern HERE.

This year I will be making my Bliss Quilt with the Bliss Quilt Kit plus the Petite Stitched Bundle designed by Fig Tree Quilts - curated bundle by Fat Quarter Shop. By adding the Stitched Bundle of 12 fat quarters, I'm able to mix and match the fabrics a bit for a more scrappy look!

Don't forget to sign up for the Sew Sampler Box (here)  - each box is a wonderful surprise plus an awesome value!

Don't worry if you missed this month's box as most of the items in this month's box are available for purchase at Fat Quarter Shop - links above.

A Bit of Scrap Stuff #ABitofScrapStuff #SewersClub #HomemadeFabric #FreeSpiritFabrics #TulaPink

My Janome M7 is a really large sewing machine so I didn't trim my Machine Organizer (per pattern instructions), but used the full size of the included fabric. I absolutely love it!

A Bit of Scrap Stuff #ABitofScrapStuff #SewersClub #HomemadeFabric #FreeSpiritFabrics #TulaPink

I used the included orange thread for the diagonal cross hatch quilting and top-stitching of the pockets. The orange pop of color is so fun!

A Bit of Scrap Stuff #ABitofScrapStuff #SewersClub #HomemadeFabric #FreeSpiritFabrics #TulaPink

The pockets are perfect for storing your quilting clips, scissors, pens and rulers. I love having the necessary sewing tools right under my machine!

Homemade is the newest fabric collection designed by Tula Pink and it is all about sewing and quilting!!! I'm loving the 5 Homemade fat quarters we received - the sewing machines are perfect for fussy cutting! Check out the complete Homemade Collection - here.

Notions

I love all three notions in the Sew Sampler Box this month. Hot pink unicorn pins designed by Tula Pink- YES PLEASE! These are going to look so cute in my pincushion - plus pinning is a must for matching points! The Tula Pink 2.5" x 6.5" Ruler is the perfect size for trimming plus it's PINK and has a grippy texture on the backing in the shape of scissors and heart - total cuteness and usability! I'm already a Wonder Clips fan and needed more so this is perfect (a definite must have)! I love the assorted colors!

Rise and Shine Quilt Pattern

The Rise and Shine Quilt Pattern is exclusive to Sew Sampler Members and is not available for sale separately. This fun geometric quilt includes fussy cutting the sewing machines - yay! It is a generous throw size at 52.5" x 73.5"! Fat Quarter Shop has the finishing kit available - here.

I can't believe this is the final block for the Goodness Grows Quilt Along! This month Sew Sampler members received instructions for Block 12 AND the finishing pattern. I loved sewing this sweet flower! Plus my points match - yay!

I will be sharing my completed Goodness Grows Quilt in a separate post. I have the quilt top assembled - so I need to choose backing fabric and quilt it!!!

I'm using Lollipop Garden by Lella Boutique to sew my Goodness Grows Quilt - I just LOVE this fabric! It is just the sweetest!

Confetti Star Quilt - Pinkerville

Hi Quilty friends! I'm sharing my finished Confetti Star Quilt. I think this quilt is quite awesome as it is purple plus has unicorns - a magical combination!!!

Confetti Star is a pattern included that was in my Fat Quarter Shop - Sew Sampler box. I love Tula Pink's Pinkerville fabric so it was a "must make" project for me!

Fat Quarter Shop Quilting Fabrics and Supplies

Do you make most of the Sew Sampler projects or do add the fabric to your stash for a different project?

I was a bit worried about all the points matching up, but I made sure to use pins so everything matched! Hooray!

Cut Time, Quilt More

The original Confetti Star Pattern is 48.5" x 48.5". I wanted mine larger so I added (3) sets of borders and now it is 66.5" x 66.5". Border 1 (white / mist) cut at 2.5" , Border 2 (Seabreeze) cut at 3.5", Border 3 (Purple Pinkerville) cut at 4.75".

I did splurge on the backing for the Pinkerville Unicorn fabric as it was just perfect! Plus lots of unicorns is always the best answer!

Confetti Star Quilt - supersize version 66.5" x 66.5"

Supplies:
(click on links below)

Have you made the Confetti Star Quilt yet??? It was a fun a quilt to make - just be sure to read the directions, double check the angled cuts, and use pins! It will be fabulous when you finish!
