Kimberbell Milk & Cookies Snack Mat

Hi Friends! Today I'm sharing a super cute snack mat that my daughter and I made together. The Kimberbell Mug Rug Collections are perfect to make with kids because your embroidery machine does all the work! Yes, the ENTIRE project including quilting is done 100% in the embroidery hoop - which was amazing to my daughter.

To be honest my 8 year old was a bit perplexed when she opened up the Kimberbell Mug Rugs, Volume 4 case to find a CD and not the actual project - ha ha ha ;).  But she looooooved selecting her own fabric, felt, and thread because she could make it her favorite colors! Yes - she too loves Lori Holt fabrics like I do :). I love that she chose a completely different color palette compared to the sample - kids are so creative!!!

You may notice that our Milk & Cookies Mug Rug is more of a snack mat size 8" x 12" compared to the traditional 4" x 6" size ... we made the larger size as my daughter wanted both her cup and snack plate to fit on the project! Luckily, the Kimberbell Mug Rugs, Volume 4 includes both sizes for this design and I have a large hoop for my Janome 550E machine.

Supplies:

We absolutely loved all of the dimension in this project - the background cross hatch quilting, using felt, all the different embroidery stitches, and the vinyl milk bottle to look like glass - so AMAZING!

I definitely think I have a machine embroidery buddy now!!! Yay!!! Or maybe she just wanted this snack mat as we had to make cookies after we finished to "try out" the new snack mat :).

Do you love machine embroidery too???
