I am so excited to be a baker this week for the Cake Mix Bake-Off with Fat Quarter Shop! They sent me a Cake Mix #2 package and told me I could sew anything I wanted. Well....I had been saving my Gooseberry Layer Cake by Lella Boutique and knew this would be perfect for it!
I wanted to make a nice lap size quilt so I chose 40 layer cake squares and started sewing! The Cake Mix papers made it is so easy to make 480 half square triangles perfectly! Doesn't this fabric just make you happy :)...FQS has a tiny bit left.
I couldn't decide on the layout for my quilt. The Cake Mix does come with some fabulous ideas, but I wanted to make mine a bit different for the Bake-Off ;). I decided to arrange the blocks by color and loved it...so I started sewing them together. I just love the color groupings.
I haven't quilted the top yet as I have a Gooseberry Jelly Roll and I want this quilt to be double-sided! I'm thinking of using Cluck Cluck Sew Shortcake Pattern for the other side.
Be sure to stop by the Jolly Jabber and vote for your favorite project this week! Cake Mixes are available here and helpful videos here.
Have a great day!!!!
