Kimberbell Snowflake Shimmer Punch Needle

I tried Punch Needle and I LOVE it!  I've been wanting to try this craft, but didn't know what size tool for which size yarn or cloth. So when I saw Kimberbell has released a brand-new line of Punch Needle Plus which is a complete punch needle project kit ... I knew this was my moment to try.  It was like Kimberbell said to me, Hey, Melanie. We did all the work for you creating this kit so you can just create. 

My tips for a first time Punch Needler 

• Use a Kimberbell Punch Needle Plus Kit: available at Kimberbell.com or FatQuarterShop.com or MissouriQuiltCo.com
• Watch the step by step video tutorials available at Kimberbell YouTube
• Use a light board for tracing the pattern. I have an inexpensive one from Amazon (here)
• Make each punch about 1/4" .... for the green I made them super tiny and it used soooooo much yarn.

• 10 x 10” Monks Cloth Frame
• Punch Needle Tool & Threader

The only item not in the kit is a pair of scissors, which most crafters have at least one pair at home :). 

This is how my Snowflake Shimmer looked after I finished punching the project and adding the rhinestones.  You could leave it on the included frame and it's ready to display. However,  I decided to sew  mine into a cute 8" pillow....which is too cute! PS - Kimberbell has a video with instructions too!

I used the Kimberbell 8" Pillow Insert or you could make your own. I also chose to add a zippered backing so I can reuse the pillow insert for different seasons! Pillow backing fabric is: Lori Holt Bee Plaids (here)

I absolutely loved making this punch needle project. It is so nice to have a portable craft as I can punch needle anywhere! My next project is Kimberbell Punch Needle Plus: Birdsong Bouquet.

Perfectly Pieced: Lattice Block Pillow

 

Hi machine embroidery friends! Today I'm sharing the perfect fall Lattice Block Pillow,  I made with the October Perfectly Pieced Box.  

To make the lattice pillow, I made (16) 4" finished blocks.  I love that I can piece AND quilt each block with my Janome M17 embroidery machine! The blocks are always perfect with Perfectly Pieced.

The curated fabric bundle included this buttery soft corduroy to make the bonus acorn project, but instead I used it for the pillow border and backing. I LOVE it!

Ghost Party Quilt

My Ghost Party quilt is finished and ready for Halloween!  This was such a fun quilt to make and I was able to use my Riley Blake Designs fabric scraps to create this quilt!

There are a lot of scrappy squares to cut out for the quilt. To make it easier, the AccuQuilt square die is super helpful!

I did omit the right and left side patchwork columns because I found the perfect fleece backing, but it wasn't quite wide enough so I made my quilt a bit more narrow.

I added a zippered backing to my pillow so I easily remove the pillow insert.  Plus the Pumpkin Blossoms fabric by Poppy Cotton is adorable!
