Hi Quilty Friends! I love low volume prints so I am so excited about the Hush Hush Collection - a collaboration of multiple designers for Riley Blake Designs. I seriously love this collection. The low volume prints are fabulous!
I decided to make my Firework Fizz Quilt - with scrappy low volume Hush Hush Collection for the background and one print (Blossom Gray) for the block centers. I LOVE it!
Note: The fabric requirements are slightly different below than the pattern as I made my background scrappy and the block centers one print.
Supplies:
- Firework Fizz PDF Pattern available at Etsy (here) or PayHip (here)
- (9) 1/3 yard Low-Volume Prints for Background- Hush Hush Collection for Riley Blake Designs
- 2.25 yard for Block Centers - Blossom in Gray designed by Christopher Thompson for Riley Blake Designs
- 1 yard for Border Fabric - Hush Hush Collection for Riley Blake Designs
- 0.625 yard Binding OR purchase extra Low Volume prints for a scrappy binding like I chose to do - Hush Hush Collection for Riley Blake Designs
- 4.25 yards backing - Swiss Dots Gray for Riley Blake Designs
I chose to cut my border 4.5" x WOF strips (a bit larger than the pattern) as I used the Patchwork Hush Hush fabric and I wanted a slightly larger border. I seriously love these Hush Hush Prints.
The Firework Fizz Quilt is a block based quilt so you can easily adjust the size of the pattern by making more or less blocks! Adjusting the outer border is quick way to adjust the size of the quilt too!
Firework Fizz Quilt Pattern is written for traditional rotary cutting - but you can totally use your AccuQuilt 8" Qube instead of trimming your half-square triangles. So much easier!
I really love this calming version of my Firework Fizz Quilt. So do my boys. I think they were excited for a non-floral quilt ;).
