Cake Mix Quilt Book - Sherbet Quilt

Happy Cake Mix Monday!!! What a great way to start the week!!! I'm super excited to quilt along with Fat Quarter Shop and It's So Emma with their new book: Cake Mix Quilt Book -Volume 1.

Cake Mix Quilt Book - Volume 1 contains 16 quilt patterns plus a "how to" for using the Moda Cake Mixes to make perfect half square triangles. Plus each pattern is clearly written and easy to follow! I chose to make the Sherbet quilt...which I just LOVE!

I wanted to make my quilt red and gray so I made my own layer cake using reds from Moda's Sweetwater: The Tree House Club and Bonnie & Camille: Little Ruby and Basics plus Pat Sloan: Sunday Drive.
Each 1/2 yard of fabric gives you (4) 10" squares plus extra fabric for scrappy binding or 1 yard gives you (12) squares plus extra fabric for scrappy binding.

Supplies:
1. The Cake Mix Quilt Book Volume 1
2. Cake Mix #1
3.  36 10" squares
4.  4.25 yards Back ground fabric - I chose Moda Bella Zen Grey

Perfect half square triangles....

All those lovely half square triangles make the best quilt with perfect points!

Because I chose to use yardage to make my quilt...I had extra fabric to make scrappy binding...which I just love! Those flowers....love love love (Pat Sloan's Sunday Drive).

I made this quilt for my sister and her husband so I added a few Cotton + Steel fabrics from my stash that have apples, pencils, and letters as they both are teachers!

I really love the Cake Mix Quilt Book! All 16 quilts are fabulous and you could easily adjust the patterns to make pillows or table runners or smaller sized baby quilts! Here a fun video from Fat Quarter Shop.

Thank you again to Fat Quarter Shop and It's So Emma for having me quilt along with the Cake Mix Quilt Book!!!

Have a great week!!!

Melanie
