AccuQuilt GO! Sewing Machine Die

 

It's the almost the end of June and I want to share my project with the AccuQuilt GO! Sewing Machine Die.  The GO! Sewing Machine Die is only available for June as it is a limited release until it goes to the AccuQuilt vault ... so you definitely want to purchase it no later than June 30th. Available here. 

 

AccuQuilt Applique Die + Machine Embroidery = Fun

Did you know that AccuQuilt offers machine embroidery files that coordinate with their appliqué dies ?!?!? AccuQuilt offers both free and for purchase machine embroidery files so you can choose what is best for your project! Of course, if you don't have an embroidery machine - you use fuse your shapes to your project or use your sewing machine to stitch along the edge.  When I saw the GO! Sewing Machine In The Hoop Hanging Embroidery Design ... I just had to make it! 

The GO! Sewing Machine In The Hoop Hanging Embroidery Design includes digital files for all the major brands: DST, EXP, HUS, JEF, PES, VIP, VP3, XXX plus Step-by-Step PDF directions so your project is easy to complete! The project includes a hanging sleeve so you can use a mini-quilt holder stand, but I omitted the sleeve as I chose to frame the project. 

Supplies:

• AccuQuilt GO! Sewing Machine Die and Mat
• AccuQuilt GO! Cutting Machine (die will work with all the GO! Machines)
• GO! Sewing Machine In The Hoop Hanging Embroidery Design
• Fusible Adhesive: Heat N Bond lite or AccuQuilt FuseMe
• Fabric: I used Bee Vintage by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs
• Stabilizer: I used light mesh cutaway
• Thread: I used Glide 40wt  Buttercup, Cool mint, Cork, Marlin, Sterling, Taffy, White
• 8x8 frame : Oak Gray (Amazon)

What I loved when creating this project: 

• All of the appliqué pieces were perfectly cut with the AccuQuilt GO! Sewing Machine Die 
• Background cross-hatch quilting is included with the GO! Sewing Machine In The Hoop Hanging Embroidery Design
• The stitched needle and thread in heart shape
• The PDF step-by-step directions for the GO! Sewing Machine In The Hoop Hanging Embroidery Design was easy to follow.

Tips if framing your project:

• Omit steps for creating hanging sleeve
• Omit steps for creating backing * I didn't do this and ended up unpicking the very secure stitches so  the project would fit in the 8"x8" frame (7.6" x 7.6" opening)

Moonbeams Charity Quilt and Stitch along: Release 4

This month we are making (2) Moonbeams Friendship Star Blocks (pattern here).  I actually made (3) blocks as I am replacing one dove block with another Friendship Star Block. 

Fat Quarter Shop has Moonbeams Quilt Kits available with Strawberry Lemonade fabric by Sherri & Chelsi...it's super cute! 

As it's fun to see different version of the Moonbeams Quilt,  I'm quilting with Old Glory by Lella Boutique. (also available at Fat Quarter Shop)

This month we are making (2) Moonbeams Wishing Star Blocks (pattern here).  I actually made (3) blocks as I am replacing one dove block with another Friendship Star Block.

---Moonbeams Charity Cross Stitch Along---

You may have noticed, my project looks a lot different from the original Moonbeams Charity Stitch. Instead of stitching the Moonbeams as one large project, I'm going to stitch the motifs separately and make a coordinating pillow each month!  

This sweet pillow is 4" x 4" and so cute! It will be perfect for Patriotic decor! It's so fun how much different a pattern can look when you change the colors.  This stitched piece matches the Friendship Star Block!

Dazzle Quilt Tips

• Half Square Triangles: I recommend using a Bloc-loc Half Square Triangle Ruler for trimming the blocks OR the AccuQuilt Half Square Triangle Die for a no-trim method.

• Pins are your friend for perfect points - I love Little House pins
• Measure your Dazzle blocks BEFORE cutting sashing. Due to seam variance, your Dazzle block might not measure the same as the pattern. That is OKAY. Just measure all your blocks and trim to the same size and cut your sashing length to the same size. Example: Your blocks measure 20.25" inches instead of 20.5" - so cut your sashing length to 20.25"
• Measure your Dazzle quilt center BEFORE cutting borders. Due to seam variance, your Dazzle quilt center might not measure the same as pattern. That is OKAY. Measure your quilt center and cut border length per your quilt measurements. Don't forget to remeasure quilt again once side borders are added so your top and bottom border strips are cut correctly.
