I love fun sewing projects that I can finish in an afternoon! I saw this cute placemat at Target and thought it would be perfect for a pillow!
Sewing my Christmas pillow took about one hour...I love a quick project!
Quick how to:
Cutting:
- Trim placemat to 12.5" x 16.5" to fit a 12" x 16" pillow form.
- Cut 2.5" binding strips - Bonnie & Camille Basics Stripe by Moda.
- Backing fabric for pillow closure- size will vary on based on closure method.
Prepare Pillow:
- I fused Pellon Shape-flex interfacing to back of placemat as it was a canvas like material and I wanted to stabilize it a bit.
Backing:
- Use preferred pillow backing method.
- I love using these cute lace zippers (I buy mine at Fort Worth Fabric Studio) for a zippered backing.
Add binding.....then enjoy your new Christmas Pillow! I'm hoping Target keeps getting such cute holiday placemats as I want to make these sweet pillows for each holiday!
Bonus:
I've been busy sewing this Christmas season and just couldn't toss my Red/Green/White Bonnie & Camille fabric scraps. So my daughter and I placed the strips into plastic clear ornaments! We love these cute and quick ornaments!
Have a Merry Christmas!!!
