Add One Pillow (free pattern) - Janome Tutorial

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing a free pattern for the Add One Pillow (here) and on the Janome Project Page (here).  

The design of the Add One Pillow is inspired by Math Puzzles using half-square triangles. Each quadrant of the Add One Pillow increases by one half-square triangle and creates a fun pattern! I thought it was perfect as it's Back to School time!

I created the Add One Pillow using my Janome M17 - which is SEW amazing! I love how easy the Janome M17 is to use and it stitches so beautifully! 

Add One Pillow 18" x 18"

Janome Feet Used:

• 1/4" foot: I love to use the HP 1/4" foot. [ piecing blocks ]
• AcuFeed open toe foot UD [ straight-line quilting ]
• Zipper foot [installing zipper for pillow closure]
• Optional: Overcasting foot M [overcast pillow interior pillow seams]

Supplies:

1 Fat Quarter: Black Floral on white (blocks)

1 Fat Quarter: Black (blocks)

½ yard: White (sashing and border)

22” x 22” Batting 

24” x 24” Pillow front backing *Optional. This fabric will be hidden in pillow interior.

Backing fabric: Size will depend on preferred method for Pillow Backing Closure

20” Nylon Zipper  

18” x 18” Pillow Form

*Fabric used in cover pillow – Black Tie by Riley Blake Designs

• 12” 60 Degree Equilateral Triangle Ruler – Creative Grids Ruler recommended

Modern Triangles Quilt is a great beginner triangle pattern as you only sew 4 rows of triangles with lots of negative space (background fabric) for your eyes to rest. But don't worry - you can always add or remove triangles rows until you are happy! I love this simple Modern Quilt!

• 40 wt Polyester Thread is my favorite for bag construction.
• 90/14 needle

Bountiful Quilt and Stitch Along - finished

 

Hi Friends! I'm so excited to share my finished Bountiful Quilt and Cross Stitch. I love them both soooooo much!!! PLUS they totally match!

Let's chat about the Bountiful Quilt first .........

The Bountiful Quilt is absolutely gorgeous! It is a generous lap size quilt at 64" x 64".  I loved making the different blocks each month as the pattern released. So much fun! I decided to machine quilt with my Janome M17 embroidery machine. I LOVE it! Yes- it did take forever, but it looks like I had the quilt professionally finished on a long arm machine. But I did it at home! I used Kimberbell Clear Blue Tiles (at Fat Quarter Shop)  with Floral 1 design (download on Kimberbell website). 

Let's chat about the Bountiful Cross Stitch .......

I wanted my Bountiful Stitch to be smaller so I used 20 count white Aida with 1 strand of DMC .... love the tiny stitches! I did change a few of the floss colors from the pattern too! 

My stitching supplies:

•  DMC 3328, 761, 353, 352, 3855,745, 3348, 3347, 3811, 3810, 3750, blanc. I chose to change a few of the DMC floss colors and I love them!
• 20 count Aida (I'm stitching one strand over one square)
• Bountiful Thread Box
• Pink Bee Needle Minder
• Gingham Love Thread Bling (floss ring)
• Heartfelt Flossbitties
• 8" x 8" aqua frame from Hobby Lobby

I absolutely love quilting and stitching along with Fat Quarter Shop's 10th Annual Charity Project! I love their generosity!
