Orange You Glad Fat Quarter Bundle with Pattern

I love the Orange You Glad fat quarter bundle that Fat Quarter Shop coordinated. Who would've thought about making an orange quilt with fabrics from a Halloween and Christmas collection ... so clever! If you are more of a peach quilter ... I think your quilt could be peaches instead of oranges - you pick! The Orange You Glad Quilt pattern also comes with (2) sizes 34.5" x 44.5" and 60.5" x 62.5".

I'm absolutely LOVING the Greatest Hits Album Quilt blocks! I love the large block sizes as it is perfect for fussy cutting! Below are the first 3 blocks for the new Quilt Along for Sew Sampler Members.

Jolly Bar Row Along - Week 1

It's time to start the Jolly Bar Row Along with Fat Quarter Shop!!! Fat Quarter Shop has designed a fun sampler quilt with their newly released  The Jolly Bar Book Vol 2 - yay!!! I love this quilt!!! Just look at all those lovely Sparrow Tracks Blocks (Week 1).

For the Jolly Bar Row Along, Fat Quarter Shop will be releasing weekly block requirements over the next 7 weeks. At the end of the quilt along, you will have completed the Jolly Bar Row Along Quilt!

The Jolly Bar Row Along Quilt is a sampler quilt and measures 51" x 56" (lap size). Sewing sampler quilts are my favorite as I'm able to sew a variety of blocks into one quilt! Sampler Quilts are great for sewing a few blocks as a trial before committing to sew 12, 20, 25, 36, or more of that block. The Jolly Bar Row Along Quilt Schedule is at the end of this post - just scroll down.

Week 1: Sparrow Track Blocks

I LOVED making the Sparrow Track Blocks! They are just so fun to sew! I even mixed and matched some of my fabrics so the points were different from the squares ... love it! I think this block would make the cutest scrappy quilt...hmmm I might have to make one :).

Are you ready to join the Jolly Bar Row Along?!?!
This lovely quilt has spools, hearts, butterflies, and more! Fat Quarter Shop sewed their quilt using the Bloomington Collection by Lella Boutique, which is lovely.

Finished Jolly Bar Row Along Quilt

I'm sewing with At Home by Bonnie & Camille. I think the At Home collection is perfect for my quarantine at home. I also love all of Bonnie & Camille's fabric collections! What is super cool about the At Home Jolly Bar is that BOTH Bonnie's (red) and Camille's (blue) color ways are included in the Jolly Bar! I'm also going to add little Bonnie & Camille pink into my quilt as I can't make a Bonnie & Camille quilt without pink!

EVERYTHING was included in the June 2020 Sewers Club box to make the Simple Sailor Toiletry Bag ... Fabric, Interfacing, Zipper, Thread, Pattern, AND instructional video! Sewers Club is full sewing class in a box! All you need is a sewing machine!

Let's take a closer look at what is included in the Sewers Club June 2020 Box

  • (3) Fat Quarters of Moonlit Voyage Fabric by Figo - seriously gorgeous!
  • Pellon Fusible Fleece interfacing
  • Simple Sailor Pattern by Serina Victoria
  • 16" Zipper
  • Link to instructional video - step by step instructions!
  • Soak Mini Single Use Scentless
  • Heirloom Magnetic Seam Guide
  • Gutermann Sew-All Silver Thread
Add on Notions:
  • Pro-Thread Snips
  • Thread Spool Wraps

Check out the awesome packaging!

I loved being able to sew the Simple Sailor Toiletry Bag in one afternoon and that everything was included. I simply grabbed my Sewers Club box and iPad mini (to watch the video), sat down to my sewing machine, and started sewing!

Tips for making your Simple Sailor Toiletry Bag:
  • Read the pattern - fully colored with well drawn illustrations!
  • Watch the video - The video will walk you through each step so your project will be successful! Perfect for beginner and experienced sewers.
  • Use a walking/evenfeed foot. Perfect for the quilting and attaching the binding.
  • Use a 90/14 needle - the seams are thick when attaching the interior binding so the larger needle is great!
  • When attaching the binding - stitch slooooow so you don't break a needle.
  • Another binding hint - at the very end of the pattern when attaching the binding by the zipper - fold AWAY from the zipper.
  • I used the ENTIRE spool of Gutermann thread for this project (the dense cross hatch quilting takes A LOT of thread)

I LOVE the added cross hatch quilting on the bag exterior...it did take awhile and LOTS of thread, but definitely worth it! My lines are about 1/2" apart...I just used the edge of my walking foot to measure the spacing.

Of course you need a picture of the inside! I flipped the bag inside out so you can see the interior more clearly. No raw edges- the bag interior is completely finished!

The Simple Sailor Toiletry Bag was so fun to make and I can't wait to start using it!!! I just love using handmade projects!!! I can't wait to see what the Sewers Club July Project will be!

Dad and Grad Mug Rugs - Celebrate!

Hello! Today, I'm sharing a quick and useful gift for Dad, Grandpa, and/or Graduates on the AccuQuilt Blog (here)! I think it is tricky to quilt gifts for men and graduates so I love making a personalized mug rug / snack mat for that special person. You can even add a fun mug or snack or gift card to complete the perfect gift! I also love that you can make a Mug Rug in one afternoon - yay!

Click here for the full tutorial on the AccuQuilt Blog (here)

Did you notice the two Mug Rugs are the same pattern - but different sizes? Guess how I did that?

AccuQuilt GO! Mix & Match Qubes! I used both my 12" and 10" Mix & Match Qubes to create the size I needed! I love the flexibility of Qubes!!! This pattern will also work for 9", 8", and 6" Qubes depending on the size of Mug Rug/ Snack Mat you want!

Let's get ready to start creating!

Supplies:

I'm so excited to have an handmade Father's Day gift to give my husband from the kids! I'm sure your Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Brother, Son, or graduate would love to have a personalized Mug Rug/ Snack Mat as a gift!

You can use this same Mug Rug pattern to make this gift for anyone!  Use their initials and it would be great for bride/groom, birthday gifts, or a just because gift!

Firework Fizz - Garden Party Quilt

Hello Quilty friends! Today I'm sharing my newest quilt, Firework Fizz - Garden Party! I absolutely love the bold colors of Garden Party plus the collection is full of floral prints - my favorite! Garden Party is the newest collection designed by Keera Job for Riley Blake Designs.

I love the large floral designs of Garden Party so I wanted to choose a quilt pattern that had large blocks so the fabric designs would shine! Firework Fizz is the perfect pattern with large blocks so you only need 9 fat quarters to create a generous lap size quilt!

I added an extra outer border to my Firework Fizz so this version is 70" x 70" ! I love this larger size plus the floral print NEEDED to be a border :).  Firework Fizz pattern is written with traditional cutting and piecing directions, but is easily adaptable to use with your AccuQuilt GO! Qube Mix & Match 8" Block - no trimming needed for half-square triangles!

Firework Fizz Quilt Pattern only requires 9 fat quarters (1 fat quarter per block) and is a block based pattern so you can easily make the quilt larger or smaller by adjusting how may fat quarters you use! Firework Fizz PDF pattern available  HERE.

Ready to make your own Firework Fizz Quilt - Garden Party
70" x 70"

Supplies - click on links below
*NOTE - some fabric requirements are slightly different from the Firework Fizz pattern due to enlarging the quilt with the outer border.

Adjusted Border Cutting instructions:

Inner Border
  • Cut (8) 2.5" x WOF of fabric strips (Background Fabric)
Outer Border
  • Cut (8) 3.5" x WOF of fabric strips (Floral Border Fabric)

I absolutely love my new summer Firework Fizz - Garden Party Quilt! The bright floral prints remind me of being on a tropical beach!!! So even if we can't travel, we can pretend with a new quilt!

Garden Party is shipping to your favorite quilt shop now! So you can start your new summer quilt now!
