Today is all about thread! I used the brand new Lori Holt Bee Cross Stitch Fabric Collection designed for Riley Blake Designs to make the Common Thread Quilt (which is a FREE pattern)! I love all the beautiful colors in the Bee Cross Stitch Collection - neutrals plus bright colors! This will be my new "go to" basic fabric!
Let's chat more about the Common Thread Quilt! This quilt is an oversize lap quilt at 60" x 72" that is perfect for cuddling or using for decor in your home! Keep on reading for supplies and a time saving tip!

I really love the new Granite color of Shabby. The mottling print of the fabric is fabulous and gives the look of great texture, but the ease of quilting 100% cotton fabric!
The spool ends and binding uses the Bee Cross Stitch Raisin color .... it's the perfect contrast from the bright colors of the "thread spool" and the Shabby Granite background!
I was so excited to use Bee Basic Gray Handmade Text Fabric designed by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs for the backing! The sewing/stitching themed text words are the perfect match for a Common Thread Quilt!!!
- Instead of piecing the Uneven Nine Patch Block with background fabric - I cut a 12.5" x 12.5" square out of background fabric and simply lined up the 1 1/2" finished HST (shape 12.1) to each corner of the square and sewed 1/4" from the cut HST edge. Super quick and easy! See photo below.
I really enjoyed making my Common Thread Quilt! It was relaxing to sew and I loved choosing all of my favorite Bee Cross Stitch colors for the spools!

This is gorgeous! Love the smaller white spools in between the bigger colourful spools.
