Made with Love Pot Holders - Sewers Club

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #SewersClub #FreeSpiritFabrics #Potholder #HandmadePotholder

Hello! Today I'm sharing a quick and cute project for your home! I was able to make both Made with Love Pot Holders in one evening. I love a quick project that I can start using right away. Cooking is always more fun when you have cute pot holders!

The Made with Love Potholders is the featured project of the Sewers Club - February Box. An alternate pattern (similar to economy block) is also shared if you prefer. I chose to make both of mine hearts as I love hearts and I feel hearts are perfect for year round as love is always needed. Your box includes (3) equally cut fabrics so you can mix and match for your favorite combinations.

Keep on reading for sewing tips I learned from making my project.

All of the supplies you need to make TWO Made with Love Pot Holders are included in the Sewers Club Box - including an awesome tutorial video plus TWO bonus videos for an alternative design and optional binding! I highly recommend watching the video(s) before starting your project as it is full of helpful tips! I like to watch the video and sew along - it's easy to pause and rewind/rewatch a step if needed!

Let's take a look at the Sewers Club - February Box

Sewing Tips:
1. Use your walking foot. You will be quilting through multiple layers so your walking foot will help to feed the layers evenly. Since I chose to add binding to my pot holders - I was quilting through (2) layers of quilting cotton, (1) layer of batting, and (1) layer of Insul-fleece.
2. Lengthen your stitch length. My machine is set for quilting stitch length of 1.8 and everyday sewing to 2.4. So for the quilting lines I used a 3.0 stitch length.
3. I used a ruler and a Hera Marker to mark the straight lines on my potholders. My lines are 2.5" apart. I kept the lines further apart because of the multiple layers and because it is a pot holder.

I really loved making this quick and cute project! I'm so excited to start using my Made with Love Pot Holders! I can't wait to see the project for the March Sewers Club Box!

Chain of Stars Quilt - Strawberry Honey

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #ABitofScrapStuffPattern #ChainofStarsQuilt #RileyBlakeDesigns #Quilt

Hi Quilty Friends! On this chilly February day,  I'm sharing a super cheerful quilt that will make you think of spring and summer. I just kept thinking all the happy thoughts while I making my Chain of Stars Quilt with the Strawberry Honey Collection designed by Gracey Larson for Riley Blake Designs. I love the strawberries, florals, bees, and bears!

I love making my Chain of Stars Quilt because the pattern uses all (42) 10" squares that come in a Riley Blake Stacker - yay!!! 10" squares are my favorite pre-cut as it is affordable plus I get all the prints in a collection!

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #ABitofScrapStuffPattern #ChainofStarsQuilt #RileyBlakeDesigns #Quilt

I love stars blocks, but I especially love these star blocks as there are NO points to match - hooray! Your stars will have all their points plus it is an easy block to sew. The Chain of Stars Quilt Pattern is great for any level quilter!

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuff #ABitofScrapStuffPattern #ChainofStarsQuilt #RileyBlakeDesigns #Quilt

My original Chain of Stars Quilt does not include a border, but I decided to add one. That is the great thing about borders - you can always add one to your quilt if there is a fabric that you love or if you want to make your quilt larger without making more blocks. I'll share the border measurements in a bit - keep on reading.

Let's gather up all the supplies you will need to make your own Chain of Stars - Strawberry Honey Quilt!

January Typography

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuffBlog #CrossStitch #PineMountainDesigns #Typography

Hello friends! I've recently started cross stitching again and I LOVE it! I love cross stitching a bit before bedtime as it's so relaxing! Plus it's the perfect portable craft as I can stitch anywhere.

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuffBlog #CrossStitch #PineMountainDesigns #Typography

My January Typography is stitched on 14ct Aida - which is the easiest fabric to stitch on. This worked out well as there was TWO power outages this month with winter storms so I could easily stitch this project with just daylight  and my new rechargeable Halo Go Light (I got mine at Amazon)

A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog #ABitofScrapStuffBlog #CrossStitch #PineMountainDesigns #Typography

I signed up for the Typography Stitch Club at Pine Needles so each month I receive a happy box that contains the monthly pattern, Aida, finishing fabric and trims. It looks like the club is full, but don't worry as Fat Quarter Shop as the pattern available.

Supplies:
Click on links below to purchase
I did add an "u" for January for my stitch. The pattern doesn't have the u as the mittens take the place - but it's easy to add by squishing the "J" and "a" plus mittens and "a" a little closer together ---then just squeeze a little "u" in.  I love it!

It may be February 1st - but my January Typography is going to stay out a bit longer :).

I can't wait to receive the February Typography Pattern and Kit!
