Threadology Quilt Along - Block 8

Happy May 15th! It's time for Block Eight - Cross With a Cross for the Threadology Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop and Moda Fabrics! This is the LAST block left for the quilt top and then it is assembly time - yay!  I can't wait!

I'm loving all of the Threadology Blocks and especially the adorable fabric:  Little Snippets by Bonnie & Camille - which is available here! Okay - I love ALL Bonnie & Camille fabric ;).

Let's get sewing Block 8: Cross With a Cross Block

This week we are making (1) 12.5" x 12.5" block and (4) 6.5" x 6.5" blocks.

Sewing Tips

1. When trimming the Cross Unit (smaller block) down to 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" - I found it easiest to trim my Cross Unit to 5" x 5". I made sure the 2.5" line on my ruler was directly down then the center of my block and trimmed to a 5" square. Then I trimmed 1/8" off each side - so my Cross Unit was a perfectly centered 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" square.

2a. After trimming Cross Unit (9" x 9" or 4 3/4" x 4 3/4") - Fold block in half and iron center crease. Repeat other direction. You should have an iron crease mark on each side of the block in the center.

2b. Center tip of B/D triangle with iron crease mark and sew together.
